⁨⁨Food Aid from Bankrupt Pakistan: Is This What Yunus Has Done to Bangladesh in Just One and a Half Years?

Bangladesh has never seen a moment this humiliating. The country that we liberated ourselves from through a bloody war, the country whose military junta cost us three million lives, is now the country we are importing rice from. Not only that. Pakistan itself is mired in poverty and economic collapse, where six hundred people fight over a kilo of flour. Yet we are now taking food assistance from them. What greater fall could there be?

Since July 2024, the illegitimate system in place under Muhammad Yunus and his so-called advisory council has pushed Bangladesh to a point that feels almost impossible to return from. A self-reliant nation that once exported rice now has to beg from a bankrupt state like Pakistan. This is not just economic failure. This is a crushing blow to national dignity.

Since Yunus’s so-called government took control, the economy has collapsed. Inflation has soared. Ordinary people’s purchasing power has hit rock bottom. Food reserves are almost empty. A country that produced tens of millions of tons of paddy now cries out for rice. Farmers aren’t getting fair prices, market systems are broken, and government indecision has created total chaos.

Pakistan itself is drowning in IMF debt. Power outages are routine. People push and collapse on the streets for food. Yet that same government is buying one hundred thousand tons of rice for Bangladesh. Is this help or a diplomatic trap? Pakistan will not miss the chance to bring Bangladesh back under its influence. And the Yunus government is walking straight into that trap.

Only eighteen months ago, Bangladesh was one of South Asia’s fastest-growing economies. Reserves were close to forty billion dollars. Exports were rising. Foreign investment was flowing in. And now? Reserves have plunged. The currency is weakening. The banking sector is in crisis. Living standards are falling fast. Who is responsible for this collapse? Those who seized power undemocratically, weakened state institutions, crippled the administration, and through reckless policies sent the economy spiraling downward.

Yunus and his team came to power with foreign backing, with the help of Islamist militant groups, and with silent support from the military. The July 2024 riots were a carefully planned conspiracy meant to overthrow an elected government. The conspiracy succeeded, but the people are paying the price. Those who hoped for change now see only destruction.

The man known as the moneylender-in-chief, Yunus, now controls the country without any legitimacy. His government has no accountability, no electoral mandate, and worst of all, no clear plan to pull the country out of crisis. Only empty promises while the nation sinks deeper every day.

Importing rice from Pakistan is not just an economic transaction. It is an insult to our independence. It dishonors the sacrifices of the martyrs who died to free the country from Pakistani oppression. And this disgrace rests squarely on the shoulders of Yunus and his illegitimate government. They have pushed the country to such a state that even a failed state like Pakistan is now positioned as our benefactor.

We have all heard the saying about begging from a beggar, but today we are watching it happen. Bangladesh, a country that once dreamed of becoming the tiger of Asia, now waits for Pakistan’s generosity. What failure could be greater than this? Yunus’s unskilled, illegal, and unaccountable administration is responsible for this collapse. The country has been driven to bankruptcy, and history will never forget it.⁩
