Not a consensus at all. Yunus and his gang have finished every arrangement to line up Jamaat and hand them the February election.
With fascist Yunus’s full cooperation, all plans to secure a Jamaat victory are in place. Over the past year there has not been a single moment when Yunus and Jamaat showed any disagreement. Despite intense pressure on every other political party except Jamaat-adjacent groups, even the army chief Waker’s December rejection of an election demand was overridden and Yunus delayed the timetable.
In the end, following Jamaat’s script, the illegal fascist government fixed the election date just before Ramadan. Jamaat has already fortified the playing field. They have deployed mobs across schools, colleges and universities, seized control of administration, and from the courts down to Yunus’s bureaucrats they are running a parallel deep state. This time’s controversial DU and JASU student elections have been treated as a model for the national vote.
Make no mistake. Just as with DU and JASU, the forthcoming national election will see vote theft and engineering carried out freely by Jamaat-friendly school committees and administrative collusion. Yunus’s gang has the whole game plan ready to deliver Jamaat’s victory.
And by repeating slogans about a reset and a national rebirth through elections, Yunus is hinting at a revival of the pre-1971 Pakistani colonial order for Bengalis. Looked at one way, his “rebirth” theory could come true. If anti-’71 forces win through Jamaat’s meticulously scripted takeover, the nation will be reborn — but as something else entirely. BNP and other parties will predictably reject the result. Through this so-called rebirth, fascist Yunus will drag Bangladesh once more into the clutches of Pakistani-style authoritarianism.
