20 Years of Achievements Erased in One Year by the Illegal Government

Bangladesh’s economy is now mired in a dreadful crisis. In less than a year, the illegitimate government of Dr. Yunus has pushed the national economy into such a deep stagnation that it will take a long time and well-planned reforms to recover. The ruling clique is piling accusations against the Awami League government, yet they cannot present any proof. In reality, the state of the economy itself is the stark evidence of their mismanagement, corruption, and destruction.

Advisors of the Yunus government have alleged that $234 billion was laundered during the Awami League’s tenure. Yet, no clear evidence has been produced to back up this claim. Economists argue that this is merely a tactic to divert public attention. In fact, under the Yunus government, foreign currency reserves have fallen to record lows, and allegations of money laundering through foreign banks have become even more apparent.

Losses of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars

Due to the mismanagement and policy failures of the illegitimate government, the economy has suffered losses of several hundred billion dollars. This loss has wiped out the achievements of the past two decades. Because of corruption and shortsightedness, Bangladesh today ranks among the top five most corrupt countries in international indices.

Ordinary People’s Economy in Ruins

Ordinary citizens are the worst victims of this economic disaster. Nearly 60% of the population has seen their personal finances collapse into nothingness. Runaway inflation, unemployment, and declining investments have together pushed middle-class and lower-class families into extreme uncertainty.

In 2025, there was a prospect of nearly $15 billion in foreign investment. But due to the unstable environment, illegal rule, and the resurgence of militancy, foreign investors have withdrawn. As investments have dried up, industrial growth has halted, leaving thousands of workers unemployed.

Rise of Militancy Damages Bangladesh’s Image Internationally

During Dr. Yunus’s government, militant groups have re-emerged. As a result, Bangladesh’s image in the international arena has been severely tarnished. This damage cannot be measured in monetary terms alone—it poses a grave threat to the nation’s long-term development and security.

$200 Billion Loss in Domestic Industry

The domestic industrial sector is also in dire crisis. Losses are estimated at nearly $200 billion. Production has been disrupted, exports have fallen, and countless industries are struggling to survive.

Accountability for Illegal Rule Needed

One year of Dr. Yunus’s rule has proven how disastrous it can be to seize power illegally and govern without accountability to the people. The economic collapse, investment decline, resurgence of militancy, and mountain of corruption—all together are driving Bangladesh toward an uncertain future.

The people of Bangladesh, who have repeatedly shed blood to defend democracy, now face the responsibility once again: to rise against illegal rule. Only through democracy, good governance, and accountability can the nation be rescued from this destruction.
