Yunus’s Digital Authoritarianism An Unprecedented state suppression on cyber space, crackdown ordered to snatch away freedom of expression from Bangladesh citizens

“Any citizen in Bangladesh will be subjected to arrest and jail if Yunus regime consider their activities on social media including facebook and Youtube supportive to Awami League,” this reported directive was issued by Yunus regime in tandem with earlier announcement of barring Awami League from cyber space.
Reports show law enforcement members including police and RAB have received orders to mount cyber surveillance, alongside hunt down and arrest everyone regarded as dissenters based on their posts on facebook, youtube and other social media platforms after muzzling mass media with mob violence and criminalization of journalists.
By authorizing law enforcement to classify social media users as pro Awami League, Yunus exposed his desperation to weaponize state organs and repress citizens to extend his rule, proving his earlier claim to make human rights universal an outright lie only meant to deceive the world and the country.
This draconian order sparks a chilling effect on collective conscience, opens up a never seen before weaponization of state organ to force citizens apply self-censorship, and stands as a fundamental threat to human rights.

We assert this order is designed also to whitewash ongoing state backed crimes against humanity including mass killing targeting citizens affiliated with Awami League over past nine months to decimate the oldest party and to embolden radical hardliners to spread virulent narrative to indoctrinate social media users unchallenged.
