No Justice for Maulana Rais Uddin’s Murder—Instead, Peaceful Protesters Face Violence; The People Are Rising

Bangladesh is walking a dangerous path of authoritarianism, where murder, injustice, and repression are being legitimized under the shelter of state machinery. A fresh example is the brutal killing of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat’s respected leader Maulana Rais Uddin. Yet, not only has no case been filed at the police station, the administration seems desperate to cover up the entire incident.

In protest, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat took to the streets peacefully, demanding fair justice and sending a message of rightful accountability. But government-backed mob forces, Jamaat-Shibir loyalists, and the police jointly launched a violent attack on the demonstrators. Shockingly, even the military reportedly joined in using force—an alarming move against the constitution and democracy.

The government thinks it can silence the people with false cases, arrests, and police batons. But it has forgotten—the people are awake now. They are no longer afraid of blood, nor do they run at the sound of gunfire. The public now realizes that the state apparatus has become a tool for certain parties, where truth has no space, and even the peaceful message of religion is labeled as terrorism.

Maulana Rais Uddin was martyred for speaking out against injustice. His blood will not be shed in vain. A new wave of protest will rise in his name, a new chapter of resistance will begin.

We say clearly: those sheltered by the government under the shadow of Jamaat-Shibir have now exposed their fascist face by attacking peaceful religious movements.

If the state machinery does not stand with the people, the people will write their own destiny. And in that destiny, there will be no place for oppression, murder, or propaganda-fed media.

We demand justice for the murder of Rais Uddin. Listen to the people’s voices—repression will not save you. Time is running out.
