Fishermen Living in Fear of Abduction in Their Own Land Due to Arakan Army’s Terror! Unmoved Yunus Administration

Under the orders of the illegal occupant Yunus administration to implement a corridor plan, there is a noticeable reluctance in securing the Myanmar-bordering areas. As a result, the activities of foreign armed insurgent groups have increased inside Bangladesh’s territory. This includes abductions, gunfights over territorial dominance by both domestic and foreign armed militant groups, and a surge in various terrorist activities. For the past few months, fishermen have been living in deep fear. There seems to be no one to stop the abductions of fishermen by the Arakan Army.

In the Damdamia area of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar, four fishermen were abducted from the Naf River by the Arakan Army (AA), an armed rebel group from Myanmar. The incident took place on Thursday morning near Lal Dwip (Red Island) adjacent to the Naf River in Teknaf.

Again, on their way back from fishing in the Naf River in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, 19 Bangladeshi fishermen were abducted along with four fishing boats. Local residents and the Trawler Owners’ Association allege that members of the Arakan Army (AA), an armed rebel group from Myanmar, are responsible for the abduction. The rebels reportedly took the fishermen at gunpoint.

Earlier, on February 11, members of the Arakan Army held four Bangladeshi fishermen hostage at gunpoint, along with their boat, at the mouth of the Naf River in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The incident occurred in the Naykhyangdia area near Gholarchar estuary of Shahporir Dwip in Sabrang Union. The hostages have yet to be rescued.
